I. Mosques Can Be Found In The City 

There are mosques across the country. In the capital, Taipei, you can find the Taipei Grand Mosque (台北清真寺) and the Taipei Cultural Mosque (台北文化清真寺), and in Taoyuan there is the Longgang Mosque (龍岡清真寺). Heading to central and southern Taiwan, there are mosques in Taichung (台中清真寺), Kaohsiung (高雄清真寺) and Tainan (台南清真寺).

II.  The Muslim-Friendly Hotel Facilities Are Growing Rapidly

With the increased number of Muslim travelers, more and more hotels have started to pay attention to the needs of Muslim tourists. Many provide prayer rooms, qibla directions and toilets with water sprayers for ablution, and some offer copies of the Quran in the rooms. Check the facilities on their websites before booking. Currently, Muslim friendly hotels are in major cities like Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung.

Taiwan is famous for its food culture and its diverse cuisine, and well-deserved reputation of "food paradise." All kinds of cuisines can be found in Taiwan, vegetarian, vegan, and Halal food is no exception. There are many Halal-certified or Muslim-friendly restaurants. 1. Taiwan Halal Hui Restaurant (回回私家菜)

The owner is originally from China, she married and moved to Taiwan, she had a problem looking for Halal food as a Muslim herself when she first came to Taiwan. After efforts and hard work, she and her husband started their own Halal restaurant in Taipei. Taiwan Halal Hui restaurant is famous for its lamb cuisine, which makes their flavorful cumin lamb skewers one of their signature dishes.  

Address: Formerly at No. 9, Aly. 51, Ln. 12, Sec. 3, Bade Rd., Songshan Dist., Taipei City; the restaurant has reportedly moved, so check its current address before you go.

2. Tajin Moroccan Cuisine (塔吉摩洛哥料理)

With a Moroccan chandelier and Arabic decoration, Tajin Moroccan Cuisine is where you enjoy not only authentic Moroccan food but also a cozy atmosphere. A tajine is a Moroccan clay pot with a cone-shaped lid that keeps all the flavor of the ingredients cooking inside. Reservations are recommended.

3. Chang Beef Noodle Shop (張家清真黃牛肉麵館)

As travelers to Taiwan might already know, when it comes to Taiwanese cuisine, beef noodle is a must eat. Taiwanese beef noodle soup mostly comes in two styles: braised (red, rich and slightly spicy) and clear-stewed (light, simple and subtle). Open since the 1950s, the Chang beef noodle shop has long enjoyed a high reputation. Apart from the tasty beef noodles, remember to order beef dumplings, crispy pot stickers and a flaky scallion pancake too. With such typical Taiwanese dishes as dumplings and pot stickers, here is where you enjoy Taiwanese cuisine with Halal meat at the same time.

4. Halal Chinese Beef Noodle Restaurant (清真中國牛肉麵食館)

Serving both braised and clear-stewed beef noodles, Halal Chinese Beef Noodle Restaurant has been recognized by the Michelin Guide Taipei every year since 2018 (first as a Bib Gourmand pick). Expect a queue before it opens. However, apart from beef noodles, the restaurant offers classic stir fry dishes such as Fried shrimp ball with pineapple, and beefsteak served on an iron plate. Tip: Go with a group if you want to try the tasty stir-fry dishes: the more people, the more dishes you can sample!

5. Gusto Pizza 

Often said to be one of the best authentic European style pizzas in Taipei, Gusto pizza surely deserves their name. Located in the city center with a two-minute walk from Dongmen Metro station, the pizza place is quite tiny but cozy with a charming atmosphere and friendly staff. Pizzas can sell out in the evening, so call ahead to book. The restaurant uses halal-certified suppliers (check its current certification status if that matters to you), so you can dig into one of its most recommended pizzas with peace of mind.

Halal restaurant in Kaohsiung 

1. Chen Lili Halal Restaurant (陳莉莉印尼美食)

The restaurant is named after the owner, Chen Lili, who has won many culinary awards. Located in the Southeast Asian shopping area in front of Kaohsiung Main Station, Chen Lili Halal Restaurant is where you find traditional Indonesian cuisine. Featuring Indonesian Satay barbeque skewer, flavorful curry and heart-warming soup, the wide variety of choices will satisfy everyone.

Halal Restaurant in Taichung 

1. Qingzhen Eden Yuan (清真恩德元餃子館)

Taiwanese love hot pot; it is often the food for reunions, when people sit around a big round table and enjoy the meal together. It’s a fun dining experience! The beef hot pot is the signature dish at Qingzhen Eden Yuan, but don't forget to order the beef and lamb dumplings. It gets busy, so call ahead to book.
