7 Must-Go Nightlife Spots Before Leaving Taipei

Staying late night in Taipei never bores you. Taipei is a bustling city of Taiwan that favors for people who like partying all night long. Every year, visitors from all over the world come for Taipei’s nightlife, drawn by its lively atmosphere and how safe the city feels at night. Besides the famous night markets and 24-hour diners, you’ll find karaoke lounges, pubs and gay bars on almost every corner.
Here are 7 must-go Taipei nightlife spots to consider. MyProGuide’s local guides know the best places to go and fun things to do at night in Taipei, and can plan an evening around what you like. Bars open and close often, so check opening hours on their own pages before you head out.
1. Barcode
- Location: 5 F, No. 22, Songshou Road, Xinyi
Barcode, near Taipei 101, allows customers to view compelling Taipei nightlife
scenes via its balcony and French windows. Described as one of the most upmarket and
sophisticated chill-out spots in the Xinyi district, there are a smorgasbord of tunes played
by DJs, whether classic house, acid jazz and new wave. The kitchen serves light bites as
you need something tasty, while its London-trained bartenders make a selection of custom
champagne cocktails. Despite being a swanky place, there is usually no cover charge
except on special occasions.
PS: Gentlemen, make sure you follow the dress code at Barcode.
2. Revolver
- Location: No. 1-2, Section 1, Roosevelt Road, Zhongzheng

Like to have a rock n roll Taipei nightlife? Revolver is a must-visit music venue for fans of rock, metal and punk. One of the most popular bars in Taipei, it has hosted thousands of local and international bands over the years. There are three floors: chill out with a drink at the ground-floor street bar or the third-floor lounge, with live music upstairs. Locals and foreign visitors alike love its laid-back atmosphere, and its beer prices are famously friendly.
3. The Red House bars, Ximending
- Location: Behind the Red House, near Ximen MRT Station Exit 1, Wanhua
Taiwan became the first place in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage in 2019, and it is widely seen as one of the most LGBT-friendly destinations in the region. The heart of Taipei’s gay nightlife is the cluster of small open-air bars on the square behind the Red House in Ximending: every evening the terraces fill up with locals and visitors, drinks are reasonably priced, and everyone is welcome. The streets nearby have more gay bars and clubs, including themed bars, if you want to keep going.
4. Raohe Street Night Market
- Location: Raohe Street, Songshan, next to MRT Songshan Station (Exit 5)
One of Taipei’s oldest night markets, Raohe is a single lane that starts at the colorful gate beside Ciyou Temple, so it is easy to walk from end to end without getting lost. Join the queue for the famous black pepper buns baked in clay ovens near the entrance, then graze your way down the street. Read more in our guide to Taiwan’s top night markets.
5. Carnegie’s Bar & Restaurant
- Location: No. 100, Section 2, Anhe Road, Daan
Ladies, not sure what else to do at night in Taipei? Carnegie’s has long been known for its ladies’ nights.
This English-style pub, which originated in Hong Kong, serves
pub grub and Indian curries, and has a famously long shooters list on
the drinks menu. Patrons often end up dancing on the bar, which
has given Carnegie’s a legendary reputation for its party atmosphere and made it a favorite of
the expat crowd and tourists.
6. Shilin Night Market
- Location: Dadong Road, Danan Road, Wenlin Road and Jihe Road, Shilin (MRT Jiantan Station)
- Opening Hours: evenings, until around midnight

Looking for other things to do at night in Taipei, except for partying at bars? Speaking of Taipei nightlife, Shilin Night Market is usually the first place that comes to mind for locals and visitors. It has a great deal of variety to offer: many must-eat local street foods are found across the market, and the surrounding streets are home to cinemas, karaoke bars and video arcades. If you have never been to a traditional Taiwanese night market, do not miss the world-famous Shilin Night Market.

It stages a showcase of Taiwan’s performing arts aimed at visitors, with Beijing opera, Taiwanese opera, puppetry and Indigenous dance, and you can watch the performers putting on their makeup before the show.
